Hey there, jet-setting friend! Grab a coffee, let's chat about this Ryanair bag policy change that's been making waves. You know how it is, airlines always keeping us on our toes, right?
So, what's the deal with the new policy?
Well, Ryanair decided to shake things up in 2018. They went from a two-bag allowance to a one-bag deal. I mean, who needs two bags, right? Kidding, I know some of us pack like we're moving house!
But seriously, the new policy meant that if you wanted to bring a second bag on board, you'd have to pay extra. And we're talking extra, like, 'I could've bought a new pair of shoes with that' extra.

Why the change, you ask?
Ryanair said it was to speed up boarding. You know how it is, the longer the queue, the longer the wait. And let's face it, no one likes hanging around at the gate when they could be sipping sangria by the pool.
But some folks thought it was just a sneaky way to make a few extra euros. I mean, have you seen their CEO's haircut? The man's got expensive taste!
What about the small print?
Now, here's where it gets a bit tricky. The new policy said your one bag had to be 10kg or less and no bigger than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. That's about the size of a small toddler, just saying.
But here's the kicker, if you wanted to bring a second bag, it had to be a small one, like a handbag or a laptop bag. And it had to fit under the seat in front of you. No more oversized cabin bags trying to squeeze into the overhead locker, folks!

What if I've already booked my flight?
Don't panic! If you'd booked before the policy change, you were still allowed to bring two bags on board. But if you booked after, well, you were in for a one-bag ride.
Ryanair did offer a 'Priority & 2 Cabin Bags' add-on for those who couldn't bear the thought of leaving their second bag at home. But again, it came at a price. I mean, who are they kidding? We all know it's just another way to make us part with our hard-earned cash!
So, what do you think?
I mean, is it a good change or a sneaky money-grab? Personally, I think it's a bit of both. It's certainly made us all think twice about what we pack, that's for sure.
But hey, at the end of the day, it's just another thing to add to the long list of airline quirks we've all come to love (or hate). So, next time you're packing for your holiday, just remember: less is more. Unless you're Ryanair's CEO, in which case, more is definitely more!
That's all from me, folks. Happy travels, and remember, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Or at least, pack lighter!
