For thousands of hockey and concert fans, the electric atmosphere at PNC Arena in Raleigh is a cherished experience. But anyone who has endured a long security line or watched a friend be turned away at the gate knows that quick, smooth entry is the unsung hero of a great night out. This is precisely why the venue’s Clear Bag Policy was implemented—not as a hassle, but as a tool to protect the event’s magic while making your life easier.
The policy’s key purpose is to dramatically speed up security screening. By limiting what you bring to clear, see-through bags and small clutches (typically 4.5” x 6.5”), bag checkers can do their job faster and more accurately. This means you spend less time standing in line and more time finding your seat, grabbing a souvenir, or hearing the starting buzzer. It’s a trade-off that pays off in convenience.
This benefit extends beyond just time. Consider a parent bringing a young child to a Canes game. With clear bags, they can easily carry diapers, wipes, and snacks without a frantic search. Or picture a concertgoer juggling a phone, keys, and a jacket; the policy encourages them to bring a small, transparent crossbody that keeps essentials visible and organized, reducing stress and the risk of dropping items in the dark.
Must Read
For everyday life, the policy also fosters a sense of safety. Knowing that every bag entering the arena is universally transparent creates a shared, predictable environment. Fans can focus on the game or performance without worrying about what might be hidden in a large, opaque backpack. This collective vigilance is a quiet but powerful part of the overall experience.

To make your next visit seamless, follow a few simple tips. First, purchase a clear bag well in advance; many comply with the 12” x 6” x 12” size limit. Pack your essentials—phone, wallet, and keys—the night before. If you need a camera, ensure it fits inside the bag. Lastly, remember that most bags with multiple pockets or hardware will be rejected, so simplicity is your best friend.
Embracing this policy is a mindful choice. It lets you trade a bulky purse for a streamlined experience, proving that sometimes, less is truly more when it comes to enjoying world-class entertainment at PNC Arena.
