Gorder Jensen Funeral Home Obituaries

So, there I was, scrolling through Facebook, when I stumbled upon an obituary. Not just any obituary, mind you, but one that was written in such a way that it made me laugh out loud. I mean, who knew that obituaries could be so... entertaining?

Now, I know what you're thinking. "How could you possibly find an obituary funny?" Well, let me tell you, the power of words is a mighty thing. And when you've got a writer who's not afraid to tell it like it is, even in the face of, well, death, you've got a recipe for something a little different.

This particular obituary was for a guy named Harold. Now, Harold, it seemed, was not your average Joe. He was a bit of a character, and his obituary reflected that. It started off with, "Harold Jensen, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, surrounded by his loving family. Or, as Harold would have it, 'surrounded by the people who put up with me the longest.'" I tell ya, I was hooked.

You see, Harold's obituary was written by Gorder Jensen Funeral Home. And it seems they've got a bit of a reputation for writing obituaries that are, well, unique. They're not afraid to add a little humor, a little personality, to these final tributes. And I, for one, think it's brilliant.

So, what's the deal with these obituaries?

Well, it turns out, Gorder Jensen Funeral Home has been doing this for years. They've got a whole section of their website dedicated to these obituaries. And let me tell you, they're a goldmine of laughter, tears, and everything in between.

Take Mabel, for example. Her obituary starts with, "Mabel Jensen, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday. She was preceded in death by her husband, who she always said was 'the love of her life, until he wasn't.'" I mean, come on! That's some serious honesty right there.

Or how about Earl? His obituary reads, "Earl Jensen, 84, passed away on Sunday. He was a man of few words, which is why we've included a list of his favorite sayings below. We hope they bring you as much joy as they brought us." And then, they list about a dozen of his favorite phrases, all of which are hilarious and completely Earl.

But why the change in tone?

I mean, obituaries have always been a place for solemn reflection, right? So, why the sudden shift towards humor and personality? Well, according to the folks at Gorder Jensen, it's all about honoring the person who's passed away. They believe that these obituaries are a way to celebrate their lives, warts and all. And I've got to say, I'm a fan.

Think about it. When someone passes away, we're often left with these really serious, often stuffy, obituaries that don't really tell us much about the person who's gone. But these obituaries? They're a snapshot of a life, warts and all. They're funny, they're touching, they're real.

And isn't that what we all want? To be remembered for who we were, not some stuffy, formal version of ourselves? I know I do. So, here's to Harold, Mabel, Earl, and all the other characters who've left us with a smile on our faces and a story to tell. You were all truly one of a kind.

And to Gorder Jensen Funeral Home, keep doing what you're doing. The world needs more laughter, even in the face of death. Especially in the face of death.
