So, I was scrolling through my news feed the other day, you know, just minding my own business, when I stumbled upon something that made me do a double-take. Obituaries. But not your grandma's obituaries. Oh no, these were something else. Norris And New Funeral Home obituaries, to be precise. Now, I'm not one to gossip, but let me tell you, these were a hoot!
First off, who names their funeral home Norris And New? I mean, it's catchy, I'll give them that. But it's also a bit... memorable. In a way that might stick in your mind, even when you're trying to remember your groceries. I can just imagine the marketing meeting: "We want something people will remember. Something... unique."
Now, let's talk about these obituaries. They're not your typical "Beloved husband, father, and friend" affairs. No, no, no. These are like mini-biographies, packed with more personality than a room full of clowns. I mean, who else would tell you that the deceased was "a man who loved a good steak, a cold beer, and a well-told joke"?

Meet the Late, Great... Characters
Take Eugene "Gene" Johnson, for instance. Now, Gene was a character. I mean, the man loved to dance. Loved it. So much so that his obituary read, "Gene was known for his smooth moves on the dance floor, and his even smoother moves off of it." I'm not sure what that means, but it sure paints a picture, doesn't it?
And then there's Mabel Thompson. Mabel was a woman who knew what she wanted. And what she wanted was to be cremated and her ashes scattered over her favorite fishing spot. Now, that's a woman with a plan. Her obituary even included a little fishing joke: "Mabel always said she wanted to go out with a big catch. Well, she did."
But my personal favorite has to be Harold "Harry" Davis. Harry was a man of many talents. He could fix anything, grow anything, and tell a story that would make you laugh until your sides ached. His obituary read, "Harry could make a joke out of a sickle and a hammer." I'm still trying to figure out that one.

Obituaries with a Twist
Now, I'm not saying these obituaries are for everyone. Some people might find them a bit too... casual. But I think they're brilliant. They're a breath of fresh air in a world full of stuffy, formal obituaries. They're a reminder that life, even in death, can be full of laughter and love.
So, here's to Norris And New Funeral Home, for giving us obituaries with a twist. For reminding us that even in death, we can still tell a good story. And here's to the late, great... characters who made this world a little bit brighter, just by being themselves.
And if you'll excuse me, I've got a sudden craving for a good steak, a cold beer, and a well-told joke. I think I know just the place to find them.
