The Original Pancake House Primary Location Portland Reviews

Alright, gather 'round, folks. I've got a tale to spin about a place that's been flipping Portlanders' pancakes since before we were all cool enough to have beards and fixie bikes. I'm talking about the granddaddy of them all, the Original Pancake House.

Where It All Began

Now, this isn't one of those fancy-schmancy, Instagram-worthy joints that popped up overnight. No, no, no. This place has been around since the dinosaurs roamed Portland, or at least since 1953. That's right, it's older than your grandma's favorite recipe, and probably just as beloved.

It all started with Les Highet and Erma Hueneke, two folks with a dream and a whole lot of batter. They opened the first Original Pancake House on NE Broadway, and the rest, as they say, is history. Or at least, breakfast history.

What's All the Fuss About?

You might be thinking, "Sure, sure, it's old. But what makes it so special?"
