Okay, you’re not going to believe this place. Seriously. It’s called Congo River Golf International Drive in Orlando, Florida. It’s… well, it’s weirdly amazing.
A Jungle Among the Theme Parks
Let's start with the obvious: it looks like a movie set. Imagine a massive, incredibly detailed jungle landscape smack-dab in the middle of International Drive. You'll find winding rivers, towering trees, and an astonishing amount of wildlife – mostly animatronics, but still, it's wild.
It was created by a guy named Tony Manente. He's a legend, really. He’s the same guy who brought you Congo Bob’s, a similar attraction that shut down a while back. But this one, Congo River Golf, is a completely different beast. He’s a true innovator when it comes to immersive experiences.
Must Read
Golfing with Lions (Sort Of)
Here's where it gets truly bonkers: you actually golf! You’re given a tiny golf cart – seriously tiny – and navigate through the jungle. You’re supposed to avoid the 'wildlife' – which is primarily incredibly realistic animatronic animals. Expect to be dodging lions, monkeys, tigers, and even a grumpy crocodile.
The carts are incredibly slow, and they're really, really cramped. It’s a hilarious experience. You'll be bumping into trees, trying to squeeze past a towering elephant, and generally feeling like a sardine in a miniature vehicle.
The ‘Safari’ Experience
It’s not exactly a safari, but it’s definitely an adventure. The animatronics are ridiculously detailed. The tigers blink, the lions roar, and the crocodiles snap their jaws. It’s genuinely unsettling and incredibly fun at the same time.
There are hidden surprises everywhere. Little waterfalls, secret caves, and sudden wildlife appearances. You'll feel like you're truly lost in the jungle. Keep your eyes peeled – and your golf clubs safely tucked away!
A Whole Lot of Water
The “river” aspect is a big deal. You'll spend a significant amount of time driving through water. There are several shallow sections, so you don't need to worry about sinking – unless you’re carrying a particularly large bag of golf balls.

The water is actually artificial, but they do a phenomenal job of making it look and sound real. You’ll hear the rush of water, the calls of exotic birds, and the occasional (simulated) splash.
Quirky Details You Won't Believe
Okay, buckle up for some fun facts. The entire complex is massive – over 3 acres! It takes about an hour and a half to complete a full round of golf.
They have a massive animatronic gorilla that’s one of the main obstacles. Seriously, he’s huge and intimidating. You’ll want to give him a wide berth. Apparently, he’s one of the most popular, and most difficult, parts of the course.
There's a “river pirate” animatronic who occasionally pops up and tries to steal your golf balls. It's completely random and utterly charming. It’s a small detail that adds so much to the experience.
The Staff – They’re Awesome
The staff is genuinely enthusiastic. They love the attraction and are happy to share stories and tips. They’ll often point out hidden features and explain the intricacies of the animatronics.
Many of the employees have worked there for years. They’re a real part of the Congo River Golf family, and their passion is infectious. You can tell they’re having a blast.

Is It Worth It?
Absolutely! It’s a totally unique and unforgettable experience. It’s not traditional golf, and it’s certainly not a typical tourist attraction. But it’s a blast!
If you’re looking for something different to do in Orlando, something that’s both silly and surprisingly engaging, this is it. It’s a bit pricey, so do your research on ticket prices and discounts.
It’s perfect for families, groups of friends, or anyone who just wants to embrace their inner child. Prepare to laugh, get a little wet, and encounter some seriously impressive animatronics.
A Word of Warning (and Encouragement)
Wear comfortable shoes – you'll be doing a lot of walking. Bring a waterproof bag for your belongings – just in case. And most importantly, embrace the absurdity of it all.
Congo River Golf International Drive isn’t trying to be anything other than wildly entertaining. It's a wonderfully weird, wonderfully immersive, and wonderfully silly place. Don't miss it!
