Can You Play Forza Horizon 5 On Ps4

So you’ve got a PS4, a controller, and a sudden craving for dusty Mexican roads and ridiculous supercars. Can you play Forza Horizon 5 on it? The short answer is no—not natively, anyway. But the longer answer has a few fun twists.

Forza Horizon 5 is an Xbox game at heart. It’s made by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios. That’s the same family as Halo and Gears of War.

Think of it like trying to play Mario on a PlayStation. The hardware might be capable, but the game lives in a different neighborhood. Forza has never officially come to PS4.

What Platforms Actually Run Forza Horizon 5?

When Forza Horizon 5 launched in 2021, it arrived on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Later, in 2025, it came to PS5. That was a big deal because Xbox exclusives rarely jump to PlayStation.

But notice what’s missing. The PS4 isn’t there. Not at launch, not later, not as a hidden download.

Why not? The PS4 can still run beautiful games like Gran Turismo 7 and God of War Ragnarök. So it’s not just about raw power. Porting a game means rebuilding code, testing performance, and solving licensing headaches.

Wait—What About PS5?

Yes, Forza Horizon 5 is now on PS5. If you have Sony’s newer console, you can buy it and play it. That’s a wild sentence for longtime fans of the console wars.

The PS5 version runs well and includes the same open-world Mexico map, seasons, and online chaos. So if you’re debating an upgrade, this is one more shiny reason.

But owning a PS5 doesn’t magically make the PS4 version appear. The two machines have different architectures. A PS5 game can’t just shrink itself down like a suitcase.

Could You Stream It to a PS4?

Here’s where things get slightly tricky. If you own a PS5, you might use Remote Play to stream it to your PS4. The PS5 does the heavy lifting, while the PS4 acts like a screen and controller.

Technically, you’re playing Forza Horizon 5 on a PS4 in that setup. But really, you’re playing it on a PS5 that happens to be in another room. It’s like watching a DVD on an old TV while the DVD player sits in the kitchen.

You’ll need a strong internet connection, and the experience can hiccup. Still, it’s a clever workaround if you already own both consoles. Just don’t expect to buy the game directly on PS4.

What About Cloud Gaming?

Xbox Cloud Gaming is a great way to play Game Pass titles on phones, tablets, and PCs. But there’s no official Xbox Cloud Gaming app for PS4. So that door is closed.

So cloud streaming isn’t a realistic shortcut. If someone says it works perfectly, they’re probably selling something—or they have a very unusual setup.

What Can PS4 Players Do Instead?

If you only have a PS4, don’t despair. The console has plenty of racing games that scratch a similar itch. Gran Turismo 7 is the obvious pick, especially if you love realistic driving.

And if you really want Forza Horizon 5, you’ll need a supported platform. That means Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, or PS5. The PS4 simply isn’t on the guest list.

The Bottom Line

No, not natively. You can’t buy it from the PlayStation Store on PS4, and there’s no official port. The only technical exception is Remote Play from a PS5, which is more of a streaming trick than a real PS4 version.

It’s a bit of a bummer, especially since the PS4 still has a huge player base. But exclusivity and console generations can be stubborn things. Sometimes the party is just in another room.

If you’re curious about Forza Horizon 5, the best path is to play it where it officially lives. And if you’re sticking with PS4 for now, there are still plenty of great roads to explore. Just maybe not the ones in Mexico.
