How Old Was Finn Wolfhard In Season 1

Ever wondered how old Finn Wolfhard was when he first graced our screens as Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things? Let's take a stroll down memory lane and find out.

Finn's Breakthrough

The year was 2016, and Netflix was about to drop a cultural phenomenon. Stranger Things premiered on July 15, with a then-13-year-old Finn Wolfhard stealing hearts as the wise-cracking, Scooby-Doo-loving Mike. But how old was he really?

Finn Wolfhard, born on October 23, 2002, was just a couple of months shy of his 14th birthday when the first season aired. Imagine that - a teenager playing a teenager, and killing it, might we add!

From Stranger Things to Stardom

Finn's portrayal of Mike catapulted him into the spotlight, and he hasn't looked back since. But let's not forget, he was still a teenager navigating high school hallways, albeit with a bit more fame than your average teen.

In fact, Finn was still in middle school when he auditioned for Stranger Things. Can you believe it? The show's creators, the Duffer Brothers, were so impressed with his audition tape that they flew him out to Los Angeles for a chemistry read with his now-famous co-stars, Millie Bobby Brown and Gaten Matarazzo.

Fun Facts About Finn's Early Days

Did you know that Finn was initially cast as Lucas, not Mike? But due to his chemistry with Millie, the creators decided to switch his role. Talk about fate, right?

And get this - Finn was a YouTuber before he was an actor! He started a channel called Teeth Brushing Time with Finn Wolfhard, where he, well, brushed his teeth while chatting with his fans. Weird? Sure. But it's part of what made Finn, Finn.

Finn's Impact on Pop Culture

Finn's portrayal of Mike has become iconic, with his character's love for Dungeons & Dragons and Ghostbusters inspiring a whole new generation of fans. Not to mention, his on-screen romance with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) has become one of the most beloved TV ships of all time.

But Finn's influence extends beyond Stranger Things. He's a musician, playing in the indie band Calpurnia, and has even directed a few music videos. Talk about a multi-talented teen!

Reflecting on Finn's Journey

As we watch Finn grow up on screen, it's a reminder of our own journey through adolescence. From middle school to high school, from braces to driver's licenses, we've all been there. And while Finn's experience was anything but ordinary, his growth and evolution are a testament to the power of youth.

So, the next time you're binge-watching Stranger Things, remember that Finn Wolfhard was just a 13-year-old kid when he started. And isn't that just the most delightfully strange thing about this whole series?
