Meet Jim: The Young Gun

When Jim Parsons first stepped into Sheldon Cooper's spotless apartment in 2007, he was a fresh-faced 34-year-old. That's right, folks! Our beloved Sheldon was played by a grown man, not a teenager. Mind. Blown.

Parsons was born on March 24, 1973, which makes him a spring chicken in Hollywood years. But don't let his youthful looks fool you – he's a seasoned actor with a resume longer than Sheldon's list of phobias.

Sheldon Grows Up... Sort of

The first season of The Big Bang Theory aired when Parsons was 34. By the time the show wrapped in 2019, he was a ripe old 46. But hey, in TV years, that's like, what, 150? Sheldon might've aged like fine wine, but Parsons? Not so much. His youthful charm and boyish good looks had fans convinced he was aging backward.

Remember when Sheldon finally got his PhD? That was in season 4, when Parsons was 37. And what about when he married Amy? That happened in season 10, when Parsons was a "venerable" 43. See? Sheldon grew up right before our eyes, but Jim? Not so much.
