How Many Wetherspoons Are There In The Uk

Alright, mate, let's dive into this. You've probably found yourself in a Wetherspoon at some point, right? Those iconic pubs with their cheap pints and even cheaper meals. But have you ever wondered, just how many of these Spoons are there in the UK?

Let's do the math

As of my last count (because yes, I'm that person), there are 873 Wetherspoon pubs scattered across the UK. Now, that's a lot of spoons, isn't it? But let's break it down a bit, shall we?

England takes the lion's share with 683 pubs. Scotland comes in second with 118, Wales has 60, and Northern Ireland rounds it off with 12. Now, I know what you're thinking, "But what about those little islands off the coast?" Well, hold your horses, we'll get to them.

Island hopping

Now, if we're including the islands, the total number jumps to 880. The Isle of Man and the Channel Islands (that's Guernsey, Jersey, and Alderney, for those playing at home) each have their own little Spoons family. And let's not forget the remote Scottish islands. You can find a Spoons on the Isle of Mull, the Isle of Skye, and even the tiny Isle of Lewis!

But here's where it gets interesting. If we're talking about just the UK mainland, then the number drops to 870. So, if you're keeping score at home, that's 3 Spoons per million people. Not bad, eh?

Spoons by the numbers

Now, let's talk about the big boys. The Moon Under Water in London's Haymarket is the busiest Spoons in the UK. It serves up a whopping 10,000 pints a week! That's enough to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool, folks!

And if you're wondering about the smallest Spoons, that title goes to the Lough Neagh Hotel in Northern Ireland. It's so small, you could probably count the number of seats on your fingers. But don't let its size fool you, it's a proper little gem!

Spoons around the world

But wait, there's more! Wetherspoon isn't just a UK thing anymore. They've gone global, mate! You can find Spoons in the Republic of Ireland, the Czech Republic, and even in the Middle East. That's right, you can enjoy a pint of Wetherspoon's finest in Dubai!

Cheers to that

Whether you're a fan of the cheap eats, the wide selection of beers, or just the friendly atmosphere, there's a Spoons out there for everyone.
