Larry David's Early Days

From Seinfeld to Curb

Larry David co-created and co-wrote the sitcom Seinfeld with Jerry Seinfeld. The show aired from 1989 to 1998, making it a massive hit and a pop culture phenomenon. But after Seinfeld ended, Larry wasn't ready to hang up his comedy boots just yet.

In 2000, HBO approached Larry with an idea for a show based on his comedy bits and stand-up. And that's how Curb Your Enthusiasm was born. But how old was Larry when this comedy goldmine started?

Larry David's Age When Curb Premiered

Let's do some math. Larry David was born in 1947, and Curb Your Enthusiasm premiered on October 15, 2000. So, Larry was a ripe old age of 53 when the show started. Can you believe it? He was already a comedy veteran by then!

Now, you might be thinking, "53? That's not that old!" And you're right. But in the world of TV, that's like being a senior citizen. Most shows are created by fresh-faced twenty-somethings or thirty-somethings. Larry David was breaking the mold even then.

Why It's Cool That Larry David Was 53

Larry David's age when Curb started is cool for a few reasons. First, it shows that age is just a number. Larry was in his 50s and still killing it in the comedy game. Second, Larry David's age brought a unique perspective to Curb. The show is all about Larry's character navigating the absurdities of life in his 50s. It's like a comedy of errors for the middle-aged. And who better to play that role than a real-life 50-something?
