So, you're wondering, "Hey, how old was Patrick Mahomes when he was drafted?" Well, grab a seat, my friend, 'cause we're about to dive into the world of NFL drafts and the age of our favorite quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.

Born in the '90s, Yeah, You Heard It Right

First things first, Patrick Mahomes was born on September 17, 1995. That's right, he's a '90s baby! Now, you might be thinking, "Wow, that makes him younger than my little cousin!" But hold your horses, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Mahomes was born in Whitehouse, Texas, a small town that's probably best known for being the birthplace of this NFL superstar. His dad, Pat Mahomes Sr., played Major League Baseball, and his mom, Randi Mahomes, was a nurse. So, young Patrick grew up in a sports-loving household, which brings us to our next point.

From High School to College, Mahomes Was Making Waves

Mahomes started playing football in high school at Whitehouse High School. He was a standout player, breaking records left and right. But here's where things get interesting: Mahomes was also a pretty amazing baseball player. In fact, he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2014. But football was his first love, and he decided to pursue that dream instead.

He headed off to Texas Tech University, where he continued to make a name for himself on the football field. In 2016, his junior year, he threw for 5,052 yards and 41 touchdowns. Not too shabby, huh? But let's get back to the question at hand: how old was Mahomes when he was drafted?

Draft Day: Mahomes Turned 22

Now, you might be thinking, "Okay, okay, just tell me how old he was!" Alright, alright, keep your pants on. Mahomes was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs on April 27, 2017. And on that day, he turned 22 years old. That's right, he was drafted on his birthday!

From Birthday Boy to Super Bowl Champ

So, there you have it. Patrick Mahomes was 22 years old when he was drafted. But here's the kicker: just two years later, in 2019, he led the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl victory in 50 years. Talk about making an entrance!

Mahomes became the second-youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl, behind only the legendary Tom Brady. Not too shabby for a kid who just turned 24, huh? It's safe to say that Mahomes has come a long way since his high school days in Whitehouse, Texas.
