How Old Is Buzz In Home Alone

Ever found yourself wondering about the age of that lovable scamp, Buzz McCallister, from the classic Christmas comedy, Home Alone? You're not alone! It's a question that's tickled the curiosity of fans for decades. So, let's dive into this festive mystery, shall we?

Why Should You Care?

Well, first off, it's fun to geek out about our favorite movies, right? It's like when you're trying to remember the name of that one actor from that one movie - you know, the one with the mustache. You can't let it go until you've solved the puzzle. Plus, Buzz's age is a bit of a time capsule, helping us understand the world of the '90s. So, grab a cup of hot cocoa, and let's get started!

Let's Set the Scene

It's 1990, and the McCallister family is preparing for a chaotic Christmas vacation. Among the eight kids, we have our hero, Kevin, and his older brother, Buzz. Now, Buzz is portrayed as a typical teenager, with his Walkman, his band posters, and his not-so-secret crush on a certain French exchange student. But how old is he, exactly?

In the movie, Buzz is played by Devin Ratray, who was born on January 11, 1977. So, when the movie was released in 1990, Devin was around 13 years old. But remember, Buzz is supposed to be a teenager, not a preteen. This means that, in the world of the movie, Buzz is likely around 15 or 16 years old.

But Wait, There's More!

You might be thinking, "But what about the sequels? Does Buzz age in real life, or is he stuck in a time warp?" Great question! In the sequels, Devin Ratray was indeed older, but Buzz's age wasn't explicitly stated. However, if we assume that the sequels take place a year or two after the first movie, then Buzz would be around 16 or 17 in Home Alone 2, and around 17 or 18 in Home Alone 3.

Now, you might be wondering, "Why does any of this matter?" Well, it's all about perspective. When you first watched Home Alone, were you around Kevin's age (about 8), or were you more Buzz's age? Did you relate more to the mischief or the mayhem? For many of us, these movies are a time stamp, a reminder of where we were in our own lives when we first watched them.

So, How Old Is Buzz?

In the end, it's safe to say that Buzz McCallister is around 15 or 16 years old in the world of Home Alone. But remember, this is all just for fun. It's not like Buzz is going to suddenly age in real life and start posting on his AARP card on social media. (Or will he? Let's not give him any ideas!)
